Kanye West and Yeezy

One of the uncrowned kings of modern sneaker culture is the well-known American rapper Kanye West. He burst onto the music scene in the early 2000s with his first album 'The College Dropout'. In 2009, a collaboration between Nike and Kanye resulted in the Nike Air Yeezy 1 sneaker, the predecessor to the Yeezy Generation that exists today. With the launch, the rapper became the first non-professional athlete to own a collection from the brand.

The collaboration wasn't long-lived, with Kanye's alliance with the ticked brand dissolving after the second Yeezy series. He began his collaboration with adidas in 2013, and the German sports giant's factories have been churning out the better and better Yeezy products ever since.

Unconventional Yeezy

Huge popularity has been enjoyed by all Yeezy sneakers, including the Yeezy 350, Yeezy 500 and Yeezy 700 in particular. In March 2018, Kanye dreamed up something truly special and shared the first sketches of the prototype Yeezy Slides slipper on Twitter. The design received both bad and good critics, and the perfected slipper was finally launched in December 2019.

Characteristics of the Yeezy Slides

The slipper is made from a single piece of EVA material, with huge pleats adorning the sole and the adidas three-stripe logo under the heel. As with the Yeezy Seasons clothes, the Slides were characterised by simplicity and earthy colours, with elements of the then prevalent "chunky" trend. Today, you'll find them on store shelves in a wide range of colours, so everyone can find the pair that suits them best, now in much brighter colours.

What outfit goes with a pair of Yeezy slippers?

With summer approaching, a must-have piece that goes well with almost any outfit! Wear them with an oversized t-shirt - socks(!) - shorts combo, or for the braver, they can be a great addition to a chic blazer set. Thanks to the many colourways, pairing it with a monochrome outfit is no problem. We also recommend Yeezy slippers with a casual tracksuit or a casual denim outfit!
